Mayor Tremblay asks Occupy Montreal to leave

Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay is publicly pleading with Occupy Montreal to pack up their things and go home. Citing a lack of “peace and security”, Tremblay said “The time has come for the protesters to find another way to get their message out”. This is a reversal of his previous decision to let Occupiers stay as long as they cooperated with police, firefighters and city officials. Tremblay has not set a date or deadline for vacating Square Victoria and it is unclear whether he’ll follow the lead of other mayors and forcibly evict the movement, continue asking them to leave publicly or ratchet up the pressure in some other way.
